A brief narration of Samatat’s past activities

1978: Dhaka Metropolitan Scout’s 36th Registration was successfully completed.

For the first time we participated in a ‘Scout Camp’ in Dhaka Local Tour.

1979: The Rover Group has been formed with Registration no. 34. The Rover leader was Rafiqul Islam Khan who is now National Commissioner of Bangladesh Scouts. At that time Abdullah Mahmud (Abu bhai) and Azad bhai led the Samatat Open Scout Group.

1980: For the first time we participated in the “76th “Bangladesh Rover Moot, Jahangirnagor”. The then S.R.M. was Munir Chy. who became a pilot later on. The 2nd S.R.M was Dr. Ismat Kabir & the 3rd S.R.M was Late Mia Muhammed Abbas Vie.

1981: First ‘Group Camp’ was introduced.

1982: The activities of ‘Cub Scouts’ started with the Registration no.35

1983: 2nd ‘Group Camp’ took place.

1992: Rover Mehdi had visited INDIA in order to took part India-Bangladesh Educational camp.

1993: In the ‘17th National Science and Technology Week, (18-20th Oct.),’Samatat Science club participated with its participators Imarat and Babu bhai.

1993: Samatat participated in the ‘18th National and technology Week’.

1995: Samatat participated in the ‘2nd Asia pacific COMDECA, TA MA TU (18-22 Dec).

1996: With the successful participation of Babu bhai & Imarat vie, Samatat was awarded 3rd position in the ‘19th National Science and Technology Week’. In fact Samatat Science Club invented inexpensive plastic candle with local technology.

1997:In conjunction with the Registration no. 105 ‘Girls Rover Unit’ began its activities.

Samatat participated in the ‘19th Asia-Pacific’ & ‘7th Bangladesh Rover Moot’ & ‘Lakkhatura Golf Arena, Sylhet’.

1998: Participation in the ‘Relief Allocation’ for the natural calamities (flood).

Innovation of ORS Project, Bangladesh Scouts Awarded special recognition from Bangladesh Scouts for ORS project.

Successful participation of ‘6th Scout Camp’ (22-26 Feb.) and ‘7th district Rover Moot’ (213-27) Dhamrai, Dhaka.

1999: Created special impact in the ‘6th Bangladesh National Scout Jamboree, Mouchak (5-11 Feb.) both as unit and a volunteer.’

Rover Mahbub, Shohel and Mehdi made a Rambling from Patuakhali to Dhaka.

Our Girl in Rover Pinki and Rover Mehdi participated SAF Scout Friendship Camp which had held in Darjiling.

2000: The Establishment of Girls in Scouts as well as Girls in cub by Rover Pinki in accordance with the registration no. 36.

Participation in the ‘5th Bangladesh Camporee’, Mouchak (5-11Feb.)’ with both our Unit and volunteers.

Completion of successful adventurous rambling from ‘Teknaf to Harbang’ by Babu bhai and Jamil bhai.

2001: The first Group Development Workshop was held on 21st June and the first Magazine was published in August.

Participation in the ‘9th Dhaka District Rover Moot, Keraniganj (26-30).’

2002: In the ‘3rd National COMDECA’ & ‘8th National Rover Moot’, Sirangonj (28.12.01-04.01.02), Samatat’s Camp was one of the best camps in its history. Our gadgets performances, camp fire etc. were so much and so that it was esp. commendable. We have created a 45ft high Samatat tower, which was the tower of Bangladesh Scouts. The director of Challenge Hiking was Samatat’;s Ripon vie and its volunteers.

In celebration of 25 years by Air Region they arranged several competition, Samatat participated in ‘General Knowledge’ and ‘Pioneering’ and became champion in Pioneering.

2004:Participation in the Regional Rover Moot (12-19Feb).

Rover Mehdi Took part in Taiwan World Rover Moot.

2005: Participated in the ‘Dhaka District Rover Moot’, Kalampur, Savar (26-02 march).

2007: 2007 was the ‘100 Years in Scouting’ celebration year. To commemorate and appreciate the value of Scouting effusively Samatat planned to undertake variety of programmes that would enhance the spirit among its Rovers. In the very beginning Samatat had a wonderful recreationery trip to Kooakata, Patuakhali.

In March Our Rover team  participated in the ‘4th National COMDECA (03-08 Mar), Cox’s Bazaar,’ in which we attained the Honour of National Accreditation by Bangladesh Scouts.

In April we took part in ‘12th Dhaka District Rover MOOT (27-29 Apr) Munshiganj,’ in which we decorated our Camp in such a way (with our gadgets, tents, and op. gate) that the outlook (the enclosure) appeared to be reflected as SAMATAT.

In July we had a Day Camp at Jahangir Nagar University in which around 6 Rovers took the Oath to embrace scouting formally.

Then there was National Centenary Camp at Mouchak in the same month. In it three of our Leaders Ishtiaq vie, Kamrul vie and Sadia apu, were asked to direct 3 important Challenges with 6 of our Rovers.

Last November there took place the cyclone Sidr which caused tremendous havoc on the coastal areas of Bangladesh. In the call of Humanity we rushed to Borguna – one of the affected areas, and provided both financial and structural support to the Sidr victims. We worked under the banner of International COMDECA.

2008: In 22nd February Samatat Open Scout Group launched their official website. Our vice president AKM Azaduzzaman inagaurate the website.

In 23rd February Our Rover Umar took  part in BJJHEN held in Moheshkhali with the Japan Scout team.

In 26th March Samatat organized Independence Day Camp for the cub age children. More then 60 children took part in this camp.

After that 8 of our rover took part in the 6th SAF scout friendship camp. Wherer two of our scouter act as a chalenge director. Our dedicated rover team work for Hiking and cultural program of the camp.
